Hello friends

I would like some advice please. My great grandfather, George INGRAM was
in the Dumfrieshire Constabulary from the age of 21, rising to the rank of
Superintendent of the Dumfries Burgh Force. I would like enquire of the
possibility of there being a photograph of him. I have two addresses, one
for the Dumfries Archive Centre, and the other for the Ewart Library.
Would either of these places be appropriate to begin my search, or is there
somewhere else? I realise this would be early days of photography, but I am
ever hopeful of there being a photograph of him somewhere, as he held a
position of some importance in the town.
