Doctors and nurses can be searched for by anyone with the 1881 census discs
plus Viewer 3.

It would be a bit of a pain unless it was a rare-ish name because the words
Doctor and "Macleod" for example, would also give you every institution in
the city and these can have dozens of names if not hundreds. But it would
work.

For dates after this you would need a Post Office directory or possibly
Oliver and Boyds Almanac (Edinburgh but sometimes bound with "Western
Supplement"), which lists the key office holders at the University,
Hospitals and also various local medical officers, if memory serves.

Best bet for Edinburgh (Glasgow not my patch VBG) is to post the names to
the Edinburgh list and see what folk come up with.
