Edinburgh Central Library has a similiar range of goodies inc the south of
Scotland OPR and census films and the Highland and Island ones, but not the
'middle' ones eg Perthshire (for reasons of cost)
It is right across the road from the National Library of Scotland and not
far from the General Record Office (bookable, fairly pricey) and National
Archives (walk in, free). All these locations are close to Waverley Station
(although Central and NLS are up a steep hill!)
The Central Library usually has a creche for a couple of hours in the
morning - but you would need to check it is running. Sorry dont have the
number to hand.Or buy your children's silence with the promise of a trip to
Jenners Toy Department/Pizza Hut/Dynamic Earth etc depending on age!
Edinburgh Schools go back next week on Tuesday so hopefully child related
facilities shouldn't be too busy.
