I suggest you get in touch with your nearest museum or archive (In Scotland
I think that's the National Photographic collection at the National Portrait
Gallery in Edinburgh).
I am sure they will be happy to advise you. You need to consider the
composition of both types of paper as well as the process used to create the
image ie the chemicals used.
I would not apply heat or any chemical substance without checking with the
people who do these things for a living.
