JOHNSTONES:

I have James 1853, John Thorburn 1855, Thomas Thorburn 1857 (my g gf),
William 1859, Robert 1861, Jane Ann 1864, Christina Helen 1865, and Flora
Colville 1867, all Johnstones, all born in Moffat (all births found on Scots
origins), the children of John Johnstone b.1829 in Moffat, who married in
1853, Helen Thorburn b.1830 in Langholm. I think that John Thorburn
Johnstone, 1855, married Isabella Carruthers in 1878 and at the 1881 census
there was a daughter Helen or Ellen Jane, b.1880 (GRO).

John 1829, was a plasterer, and had siblings Isabella 1822 Kirkpatrick
Juxta, Margaret 1831 Moffat, George 1833 Moffat (possibly m. Janet Edgar in
1855, and had daughter Jessie in 1864),Elizabeth 1841 Moffat, and William
1843 Moffat.

They were the children of John Johnstone, b.abt 1800, and Jean Little, b.abt
1805, who were married in Moffat in 1825 (GRO)

Unfortunately I cannot get to Edinburgh to look up the records further just
now, and though I have tracked back to my ggg gf, it is more difficult to
move forward in time to possible descendants of the others.
Can anyone relate to these names? I would love to find some descendants to
connect to!
