The 1841 census of Ayrshire isn't indexed, either by Parish (like Dumfries)
or as a County. There is a project at present to index but won't be
finished for quite some time.
1841 census for all of Ayrshire is too large to look up for one name. If
you knew which Parish they were likely to be in you may be luckier and get
someone who is checking that Parish anyway to look for your names.#
1851 census is indexed for all Ayrshire on computer(as far as I know only
available locally - it cannot be purchased). If possible it might be better
to start there.
