Hi Helen

One just cannot do a 'look-up' in the Militia records in the Ewart ! These
consist of four large crates of musty (and dusty) muster rolls and
paysheets. It takes a minimum of an hour per crate, and even at that you
are only skimming through. Serious work indeed!!

Is there anyone who goes to the Ewart Library in Catherine Street Dumfries
who could possibly do a "look up" for me, regarding early Galloway militia
records? I have a reference to search.
