In reference to Joy Chatters's Brownlee inquiry, there is an entry in the
Wanlockhead (Dumfriesshire) Marriage Register for the marriage of Ann Kerr
("Families of Wanlockhead", GRC J 1) to John Brownlee, 24 year-old bachelor,
railway brakesman, living in Carstairs Junction, son of William Brownlee,
railway engine driver, and Janet White, on 12 March 1880. Carstairs
Junction is about five miles northeast of Lanark, at the junction of the
rail line between Glasgow and Edinburgh and the line south to Carlyle and
western England. No record of either spouse was found in Wanlockhead after
their marriage.
