Dear Martha,

I am so sorry for the long delay in replying . . . life has been busy!
Anyway, we do have quite a bit of information about Vermont Duntons. They
did migrate there from Massachusetts and there were several that migrated
West to Illinois. One Asa Dunton moved to what is now the suburb of Chicago
called Arlington Heights and named the town he founded, "Dunton, Illinois".

Unfortunately, I do not have your grandfather in the database. You may want
to contact the records office for St. Albans, VT and request a copy of his
birth certificate. This usually lists the names of the father and mother
and often their birth places.

The area of Vermont that a lot of Duntons originated from seems to be
Dorset.

I am also posting this message to the Dunton Genealogy email list to see if
anyone out there has additional clues to help you on your search.

My paternal grandfather was Dana Wayne Dunton of St Albans, Vermont. He
left
Vermont in his 20s and moved to Chicago and later to Denver, CO. While in
Denver he married my grandmother, Blanche Rothwell. Do you have any
information about Vermont Duntons. I know my grandfather had siblings who
never married. Perhaps there were cousins. I wonder if my grandfather had
connection to early Duntons of MA?
