As far as I know no codes have ever been deleted from the
Chapman Codes. I expect "before 1974" will mean that the list you have
does not have any codes for the counties which came into existence in
the big shake-up of counties and boundaries in that year. If so they
will not have anything for Tyne and Wear or for Cleveland. For family
historians that will hardly be a drawback.

Incidentally, if anyone likes to follow one of my personal
little themes, called "everyone who matters is from the NE - or at least
has NE connections" then they may be interested to know that Colin
Chapman has family in Jesmond, Newcastle.

I've got another little theme on the same lines, only instead of
"from the NE" substitute "called Nicholson"!

Note - these last two paragraphs are NOT an invitation to start
a "thread" on this list!
