Jessie:

I see you have FORSTER and WHITFIELD among your names. My mother's mother's
line is FORSTER / FOSTER (depending which way the wind blows!), and my
mother's father's father's mother's sister married a WHITFIELD.

Here is the FORSTER information:

The 1891 census for High Spen, Co. Durham shows:
- George FORSTER, 38, coal miner born Mickley, Northumberland,
- Isabella FORSTER, 32, born Ryton Woodside, Durham (she was an ORD
before marrying George),
and their children Florence, Thomas, John and Isabella, plus brother-in-law
Thomas ORD, 20.
Florence was born at Ryton Woodside, the other children at Chopwell. Like
Florence, Thomas ORD was born at Ryton Woodside.

In the 1881, a family of FORSTERs was at the same High Spen address, and
consisted of:
- William FORSTER, 65, coal miner, born Murton, Durham,
- Mary FORSTER, 59, born Greenside, Durham,
and their children George, John R, and Hannah, plus visitor William HOGG, 5.
John R was born at "Edomsley", wherever that might be, and Hannah at Urpeth.

Here is the WHITFIELD information (not much of it, I'm afraid):

1868 Nov 1 marriage of Catherine ROBSON spr. 20 dau. of Lancelot ROBSON,
tanner to Joseph WHITFIELD, coal miner. They seem to have lived in Stanley
Row, West Wylam for many years.

Best wishes,
Pamela
