When LDS filmed the baptisms and marriages of parishes, they often filmed
the churchyards and I suspect cemeteries too. You go to
www.familysearch.org , click on CUSTOM SEARCH, click on CATALOG,
then PLACENAME SEARCH, then you enter any number of locales: parish name
will usually turn up church records, but try town. If there is a chapel
involved,
try that. Like Kelloe is a parish. Shadforth has a chapel. The Shadforth
records
are filmed but you won't find them in the parish.
Some records are in London too at the Society of Genealogists. You can
search there as well, if you can't get to Durham and can't use LDS.
The English church records are heavenly. They are well worth checking for
your parish. Plus you can find all the ancestors potted there without paying
a cent, beyond film rental: Affordable records searching.
Happy hunting,
Linda Merle
