The following familiy history document is on EBAY. I have no association
with this item, but know there are several people researching ARMSTONGs:

"1785 VELLUM APPRENTICE INDENTURE
FOR A MARINER
NO RESERVE

A mainly printed indenture on vellum with handwritten inserts made on the
7th April 1785 in the 25th year of the reign of George III wherein John
Armstrong junior, son of John Armstrong senior of North Shields in the
county of Northumberland Master Mariner, "of his own Will and Consent and
with the Consent of his Parents ..." puts himself as apprentice to Davis
Hewson of Whitburn in the county of Durham for six years to be taught "the
Art of a Mariner...". During those six years the apprentice is to be paid
£2 per year for the first 2 years, £5 a year for the next 2 years and £8
per year for the final 2 years - a grand total of £30 for 6 years! "

Happy Hunting!

Jeff Lee
