Barrass Bridge spanned the Pandon Burn at the point where Claremont Road met
the Haymarket end of Percy Street. During the 1840s and 1850s the Pandon
Burn began to be filled in initially using earth excavated from the
Victorian Tunnel. I have sent details of the origin of the word barrass to
Sandy off list.
