From the Rutland Herald 1938 February 02
Now commonly known as the Rutland Daily Herald, published in Rutland, Vermont
[extracted at second hand - bracketed material added by Darrell A. Martin
for clarity]
. . .
Clara Dutton and Mitchell Larock were married February 3, 1877, in Brandon
[Vermont] in the house now [1938] occupied by John Oram. At that time, the
Baptist pastor, Rev. David
Watson, who performed the ceremony resided there, and it was used as the
Baptist parsonage. They were attended by Philo Rickert.
Mrs. Larock is 79 [by Feb. 1938 so b. ca. 1858], and he is 81. Both have
enjoyed unusual health, although they have suffered with colds recently.
They have always lived in this vicinity, having resided for more than 30
years in their present home, their daughter, Mrs. Hattie Hornbeck being
with them this winter.
Seven children were born to them. Two daughters, Mrs. Andrew Trombley and
Mrs. Hornbeck, and two sons, Charles of Brandon, and Walter who is in
Florida, will assist by their presence and messages in making this
anniversary a happy one.
The couple was saddened about two years ago by the loss of their son,
Albert. Two other daughters, Freda and Lula, died several years ago.
