Subject: Dyer/Dwyer from Leitrim, Ireland

My gg-grandfather, Thomas Dyer, came from townland Crummy, parish
Kiltubrid, county Leitrim, Ireland to Boston, Ma, USA in 1866. He
settled in Cambridge, Ma. For the next five generations the Dyer family
grew in the Boston Area. They also spread thoughout the U.S.
I believe that the Dyer name was changed from Dwyer when Tom and his
family came to US from Ireland. Thomas's siblings and his mother,
Elizabeth (Blessington) Dyer, followed Tom to the US a few years later.
Most of them settled in Pawtucket, RI.
The records, parish and land records, from Ireland show that there where
not that many Dwyers from leitrim. I'm wondering if they did not come
from somewhere else in the 1700's.
