Hi,
My ancestor, John E. Owens from Merthyltydfil, according to two
different accounts, left Wales on February 3, 1853, at the age of 19 in
the company of 1500 Mormon converts aboard the sailing vessel "John
Bright". They landed in the US in Louisiana. He was married aboard
ship so his wife's account has the same dates. However, I can find no
record of the "John Bright". There is a record of one being built a
year later. Does anyone know where I can find record of this ship and
its passengers?
