Dear Gerry,
There is an article "Tom's letters to his kinsfolk" in NLW Journal
1984..beginning page 357.......Charles Allen-Phillips
and Thomas were partners in a failed Bank and Thomas, probably to evade
irate creditors, took his family off to South Africa. I have a copy of this
article somewhere......but everything packed away whilst grandchildren in
residence for school hols.
