Hello John
I was interested to read that the Admiralty in the Dockyard kept
descriptions of their employees for security in the pre-photographic age.
One of my gg grandfathers was Sidney Webb, photographer to the Admiralty in
Pembroke Dock. He was a photographer in Pembroke Dock as early as 1868, but
I'm not sure when his appointment to the Admiralty began. In my ignorance I
imagined him photographing ships etc, although he was a studio photographer.
