Dear Val,
As I've never heard of Old Castle or Track Mill, I don't think I'm able to
help you. Whilst the Gronow name was well established in Pembrokeshire, it
was fairly widespread throughout all of Wales.
As Enoch Gronow apparently lived until 1845, and I guess you got his age
(i.e. birth date) from a death certificate, the only thing I could suggest
is to look for him at the address shown, or in the same area, in the 1841
census. This census won't tell you his place of birth, but might show if he
was born in or out of the County in which he was then living.
Failing that, Sarah (Gronow) Watkin would appear in the 1851 and 1861 census
records, and you could trace her birthplace from those.
I've had a look at the St. David's Probate index
and there is nothing for William or Enoch.
A Griffith Gronowe of Penard, Glam. left a will in 1625; a Richard Gronow of
Marros, Carm. in 1635 and a Joseph Gronow of Llanguick, Glamorgan in
1748...then are a few others mainly about the Tenby area, but nothing seems
significant.
Bettye Kirkwood, Australia.
