Small world! I remember Simon Hughes very well. When you mention lead mining
in Ceredigion his name immediately springs to mind even though I probably
saw him last in 1968!

He was in Ardwyn a year behind me, I think. Lived out at Tal-y-bont and came
in the old green Crosville bus every day. Even then it was unusual for him
NOT to have a highly detailed Ordnance Survey map in his hand as he set out
to explore more old mines at the weekend. Doubtless he has pursued this
interest throughout his career!
