Otis Mather, in his 1921 book "Six Generations of LaRues and Allied
Families," takes a rather firm position that the names LaRue and LeRoy
are not related. I note, however, in my 1663 map of Mannheim, Germany,
Jacques Fremeau, Jean du Four, Jean Simon, Isaac LeRoy, Anthoine Le Roux,
Abraham Le Roux, Pierre Labat, and Pierre Cresson, all living on the same
block, probably in connected homes. This Abraham Le Roux later immigrated
and became Abraham LaRue on Staten Island, NY, where me married
Magdeleine Gillet and they had a son, Peter, born in 1688, and baptized
in the Dutch Reformed Church. Anthoine Le Roux was from "Lalloeu in the
Low Country," and lived with his wife Jeanne Joquet (Hoquet) in Leiden,
the Netherlands for a time, before pushing on to Mannheim. The Taine,
Cassier (Casier), Uziele (Uzille), and Du Bois families are mentioned in
my presentation, "LaRue and Allied Families," at the URL listed below.
Does anyone have evidence that the LeRoy and LaRue (Le Roux) families
were related at any point? (I already understand the meaning or
interpretation of the names - not looking for that).

I wish I knew! I can tell you that Maria Taine was the great
grandmother of Maria Uziele who married Leonard-Tremi LeRoy
aka Jonas Laroway. What, if any, the relationship was from Jean le
Roy to the French LeRoy dit Audy family is not known.
The marriage record for Jean le Roy and Marie Taine is:
"April 7th. 1671: Jean le Roy, living at New Haerlem, widower of
Louise de Lancaster, with Marie Taine, widow of Philip Casier, living
at New York."
If anyone does discover more information on Jean I would be very
interested in it.
