Pat,
The only thing I can tell you is that it is trial and error. I have been
known to lay on the ground to get a good picture. I think my kids expect
to see me standing on my head at some point just to take a picture.<VBG> I
have never used anything on a stone to enhance the writing while taking a
picture. I am afraid it will destroy the stone for other generations to
view. The only thing I have done is used a piece of paper and the side of
a pencil to try and make out the writing. Lay the paper on top of the
stone and use the side of the pencil and rub over the paper where the
letters are. I have used a toothbrush to get any deep dirt or whatever
out of the letters to try to read them better that way. I have even used
my fingertips, closed my eyes and tried to read it "Braille" style. Be
inventive but, take care to not damage the stone. A hundred years from now
someone else may be doing the same thing we all are and will have no chance
if the stones are damaged.
Happy "Ghost" Hunting!
Cindy
