The Lotts were an old "Dutch" family who settled Long Island from very early
times. In the ninteenth century, many were prominent New Yorkers. They lived
at Flatbush, and intermarried with my family the Van Derveers. I have Jan Van
Derveer, son of Jan and Femmetje Bergen Van Derveer m to Cornelia Lott at the
beginning of the eighteenth century. They spread out to upstate NY, NJ and PA
from there, I would guess. A prominent Lott is hanging in the NY State
Armory at 77th st (or there abouts). I know nothing of their origins, or when
they first came, but I am sure they settled in Flatbush. I have not studied
them, not being related to them. Kris
