I am descended from Albert BRADT, bother of Arent. I have nothing to
add on Andrie DeVos. However, here is what I have on Van EPS (another
one of my lines):
(Note: the numbering sysytem used is the Modified Henry System, where
each individual's number represents his ancestry, in that line.)
1. Dirck Van EPS/Van EPEN, , b. ca. 1603, poss. Delftshaven,
Netherlands; d. 1652, Schenectady, NN; m. ca. 1639, Albany, NY,
Maria/Maerrien/Maritie Damen (Daeman/ Damian/Damiens) (dau of Adam) ( ,
b. ca. 1612, d. ca. 1681-2). He came to NY from Delftshaven, South
Holland, 1630. She came to NY, 1650 (?). She m2. Hendrick Andriesse
Van Doesburgh (Van Doesburch), alias Hendrick Driessen/Hendrick
Andriesse (b. ca. 1621, d. ca. 1663/4, emig 1642, was, Beverwyck as
early as 1654), m3. Mar 21, 1664, Hon Cornelius Hendricksen Van Nes/Van
Ness (or Van Es), of Amersfort, (d. > 1684, emig 1641 to
Rensselaerswyck), and Albany, widr of Mayken Hendricks(e) Burchgraeff
(van den Burchgraeff) (d. > 1658, < 1664), dau of Hendrick Asriaensz van
den Burchgraeff and Annetje Jans, as his w2.
Maritie owned a house and lands at Niskayuna and had real estate, Albany
and Schenectady. She with h3. had 3500 guilders loaned out, Holland,
for which she gave her dau Elizabeth, power of attorney to collect, when
she travelled to Holland ca. 1668. , 1681, Gerrit Bancker, Marte Crieger
and Jan Van EPS released for 5700 guilders the interest of the surviving
husband, Cornelis van Nes, his wife's (Maria) estate, partly annulling
the their joint will of 1671. Van Doesburgh was a considerable dealer,
real estate, Beverwyck. (His sis Geertruy m. Jacob Janse Stol, alias
Hap.) Maria received a patent for a parcel of land at Canistigioone,
opposite the "Great Island", on May 8, 1668. This parcel passed to her
dau Jannetie (m. Crieger). She also owned a house and lot on Pearl St,,
Albany, which passed to Jannetie. Van Doesburgh was a considerable
dealer, real estate, Beverwyck.
Van Nes came to Albany (Rensselaerswyck), 1641, probably aboard the "den
Eyckenboon". He had lived at Vianen, on the Haverdijk, South Holland,,
1625. He was a principal farmer at Rensselaerswyck, and battled with
van Slichtenhorst. He was a brewer, had a house, lot and brewery,
Greenbush, 1650. Councillor of Rensselaerswyck, 1652-8, 1660-1, 1663.
Granted 50 morgens of land at Amersfoort (Flatlands), May 23, 1659. Jun
16, 1664, granted 21 morgens of land at Schenectady, where he lived with
Marritje,, 1677.
11. Jan/Johannes Dirckse Van EPS, , b. ca. 1630, Netherlands; d. Feb 8,
1690, massacre at Schenectady; m. ca. 1666, Albany, < 1673,
Elisabeth/Lysbeth Janse Douw, dau of Jan Douw, of Leewarden; sis
Volckert Janse Douw. She m2. Jul 23, 1693, Gysbert Gerritse Van Brakel.
One of the first settlers of Schenectady. , 1664, his m purchased for
him, a bouwery on the Groote Vlachte and a house and lot, the village of
Schenectady, corner of Church and State Sts. , 1667, Cornelis Van Nes,
his step-father, granted him land and a
house, Schenectady. He was one of 5 magistrates, Schnectady, 1676,
1678. He was one of the 5 patentees of the Dongan Patent, 1684. Home
lot, corner State and Church Sts. Owned Bouwerie #2, purch for him by
his step-f.
3 sons, 4 dau (he and 3 of his children killed during massacre at
Schenectady, along with a negro slave, and 1 child was carried off to
Canada)
