Jason,
Just came across the disproof, nicely summarized in "Genealogies of Long
Island Families" From the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record,
volume II, selected and introduced by Henry B. Hoff (Blatimore:
Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1987, page 609)
States that the Wizzelpenning marriage is an error and should not be
included, referring to the Somerset County Hist. Qtly, which you quoted,
and suggesting that the error there was "undoubtedly" copied from Bergen,
"Ealry Settlers of Kings County, New York," page 308.
Goes on the cite documentary evidence of Tjelletje's marriage 24 April
1681, Flatbusch DRC, to Albert Stevense Van Voorhees ("Yearbook of the
Holland Society, 1898, page 89) with baptismal dates of several children in
following years...... leaving "no period in which Tjelletje Reynierse
Wizzelpenning could have been the wife of Cornelius Symonse Van Arsdale."
(researched by Mrs. Mabel Spell, New York City)
Hope this helps,
Bryce
