My oldest proven Cornelison is Gerritt Cornelison, supposedly the son of one
of the Mattys Cornelisons. I am sure only that my Gerritt made his will 13
Jan., 1775, and he died 17 April, 1785 in Loudon Co., VA, where he is buried.
I thought until recently that he was the son of Mattys and Catherine Paulus
Cornelison, but now I'm not sure.
Information from many others say that he was a Neukirk, but he and his four
sons always used Corrnelison for a surname.
My ancestor was Conrad, whose brother was Cornelius. Half-brothers were John
and Peter. A wife, Mary, was named in the will, but I don't think she was
the first wife or the mother of the first two sons. There was about 15 years
between the first two and the last two.
I certainly hope that this gets straightened out some day. Thanks,
Doris Kaleta
