In regards to the family of the de la Montagne family and descendants I
suggest you contact Lois Stewart who published the genealogy on the Montaney
family. It is called "The Ancestors and Descendants of James Montaney
(1799-1857). She goes back to 1595 in the book. She can be reached at
She is also founder of the Society for the Descendants of the Montaney
Family. This name eventually became MONTANA in the Mohawk area.
I looked over a couple pages and see that Rachel (du Cloux) de Forest married
Jean Mousnier de la Montagne in Leyden in 1626. Their children were Jolant,
Jesse, Jan Monier, Rachel, Maria, and Willem. Daughter Rachel married Dr.
