Oliver Waterman of Dutchess Co. in 1790 had a daughter Charity who told her
son that she was "low Dutch". I came across one article that said that meant
"Calvinist" but another that said "Holland Dutch". I'll be interested to find
out what others have found about the term.
All indications have pointed to Oliver Waterman and his wife, Elizabeth
Esmond, as English. Are any of you Waterman descendants who can set me
straight?
