Hi Mary,
You wrote:
One of the ancestors was considered a hero of the Revolution in New
Jersey,
Hendrick Fisher (1697-1778). Hendrick Fisher was supposedly born in the
Rheinland and emigrated to New Jersey when he was about 6 years old.
According to the Somerset County Historical Journal, his father's name
was
also Hendrick, the mother's name is unknown and there is no information
as
to exactly where in the Rheinland they came from. The article say that
the
father was "exiled" from the Rheinland to the Netherlands before he came
here. Has there been any further research that gives more information
about
the origins of this family?
Can anyone point me to specific articles, books, etc.?

I have personally contacted Hank Jones (author of many books on the
Palatine immigrants) regarding this very issue. He has numerous notes on
Hendrick Fisher in his files, but has not found any concrete evidence to
identify the true origins of Hendrick Fisher. Whether he is of the
'Rheinland' (German) or of the Netherlands (Dutch) has not been proven.
Hank Jones has not identified him as a 'Palatine' but neither has he
ruled it out completely.

I am not aware of any specific articles or books that will shed any new
light on this subject.

I too would welcome any further research on Hendrick Fisher.

Pam Sears
