Hi All,
Right now I am going through everything I can get my hands on, on the
Simonson's. Next I am going to do the Woggloms. These are people in my
family. Of course you know all the various ways of spelling Woggoleum.
Also
with a Van. If that's confusing try the Simonson's. So far I have
found;
SIMOSZ, SYMESSEN, SIMONSON, SINONSEN, SIMOSZEN, SYMONS, SYMONSZ, and
probably more. Makes it hard too look up in the computer.
Here is what I found.
1725 Symon Symonz was then married to Maria Woertman they had a daughter
Antje. No witnesses listed.
1727 Symon Symonsz had another daughter, Anjte. No wife listed.
1731 Symon Symonsz had a son, Simon. Again Marie Woertman is listed as
the
wife and mother.
1736 Symon Symonsz (says son of Aart) has a daughter Anna. Now he is
married to Sara VanPelt.
Witness are Aart Symons and Margariet Danials.
1742 Simon Simonsse,(new spelling) has a son VanPelt wife Sara VanPelt.
(She
keeps her spelling consistent)
1744 Symen Symonsen, child Art, wife Sarah VanPelt.
1746 Seymon Seymonse , child Maria, wife Sarah VanPelt.
1748 Symon Symonson, child, Elizabeth, wife, Sara VanPelt
1749 Simon Simonsen There is Simon Simonsen listed, child Jeremyah, BUT
THE
MOTHER IS LISTED AS HELENA SWEEM.
1754 Symon Symeson has a child, Johennis, wife Sara VanPelt
1755 Symon Symonsen has a child, Everet, wife Sara VanPelt
1757 Symon Symonson, child, Sara, wife Sara VanPelt.
This is the last listing for either of them.
I have Simonson's, Sweem's and VanPelt's. This is very interesting.

The Simonsons of Staten Island can be very confusing. If you are going
to make any progress at all in sorting out the above, you need to access
"The Simonson Families of Staten Island" by Elmer Garfield Van Name
(1959). It is available for a very modest fee from the Gloucester County
Historical Society of Woodbury, NJ. Complete ordering instructions can
be found on the Staten Island Website:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyrichmo/
1. Simon Simonson, who married Marie Woertman, has not been clearly
identified by Elmer Garfield Van Name. His origins are unknown. They had
five children, all bpt at the Port Richmond DRC.
2. Simon Simonson, son of Isaac & Antje Vanderbilt, married Helena
Swaim.
They had 3 children bpt at Port Richmond.
3. Simon Simonson, son of Aert Simonson & Antje Christopher, married
(1st) Blandina Van Woggelum, and 2nd Sarah Van Pelt, the daughter of Jan
Janszen Van Pelt & Aeltje Dircks Hooglandt. Simon and Sarah Van Pelt had
a total of 9 children.
Simon #2 & Simon #3 are both grandsons of Simon Barentszen & Wyntje
Arents. Simon Barentszen was born about 1640/41, the son of Barent
Simonszen & Tryntje Claes, and the step-son of Jurriaen Blanck (the 2nd
husband of Tryntje Claes). Simon Barentszen's children were all bpt at
the NY DRC, and in many cases he used the alias "Blanck" in honor of his
step-father.
Aert Simonson, son of Simon Barentszen & Wyntje Arents had 2 wives. He
first married Antje Christopher abt 1703, the daughter of Hans/Johannes
Chrisoffelszen & Tryntje Barents Blom and they had 7 Children. He then
married Margaret Daniels abt 1720, and they had a total of 6 children.
There is also a Simon Simonson, son of Barent Simonson & Apollonia
Messeker, who married Elizabeth (unknown) and they removed to
Readington, Somerset, NJ. Barent Simonson was a brother of Aert & Isaac
above, and also grandson of Simon Barentszen.
I hope this helps.
Best regards,
Pam Sears
