>From my original post on Friday and conclusions from responses by
other subscribers, Thomas could very well have been the son of
Thomas Auter and Elsje Skillman and not a Paulus. The two Pouwel
children could have been named after the maternal grandfather, (the
father of Seyte, his first wife).
There was the article "Notes on the Aten (Auten) Family" that was in
an issue of the NJHS publication back in 1922 that included Thomas
as the son of Thomas. There were no surviving descendents named Paul,
son of Andriaen Hendrickse.
And, apparently, no daughters named after Elsje Skillman, or the mother
of Hilletje Van Arsdalen.
Now on to my other problem. It has been reported that Catlytje, the
mother of Hilletje Van Arsdalen was a Van Voorhees; and another gives
Vanderbilt. The Vanderbilt source gives her parents, but nothing on
the Van Voorhees surname.
