Dear Van --
I am not directly related to these families, but I do have a bit of
information I've collected as part of my project on Early Bergen
County (and vicinity) Families. Here's a tanatlizing family group:
Van Valen, Jacob
Jacob Van Valen, son of -?-, m. 26 Nov 1803 So. Schraalenburgh Ref
Ch, Sophia Vanderlinde (Feytje), dau. of -?-.
Jacob Van Valen was b. about 1775; d. 9 Jan 1851, ae 75.0.14; buried Ref Chyd, Leonia, NJ.
Feytje/Sophia Vanderlinde was b. about 1782; d. 2 Nov 1861, ae
79.6.0; buried Ref Chyd, Leonia, NJ.
Jacob Van Valen, 74, farmer, and Sophia, 68, were listed in
the 1850 Federal Census, living in Hackensack Township, Bergen
County, NJ. Listed living with them were: Daniel, 44, laborer;
Hannah, 35; and Jacob, 26, carpenter.
---children of Jacob Van Valen & Sophia Vanderlinde:
* John Verveelen, b. 15 July 1804; bp. 12 Aug 1804 So. Schraalenburgh
Ref Ch (no wit)
* Daniel Van Valen, b. 4 July 1806; bp. 25 July 1806 So.
Schraalenburgh Ref Ch (no wit)
* Effe Vervelen, b. 8 July 1808; bp. 31 July 1808 Clarkstown Ref Ch (no wit)
* Jacob Van Valen, b. about 1824

Records, 1929, p. 91; Ackerman, Herbert S., and Arthur J. Goff,

52; 1850 Federal Census, New Jersey, Bergen County, Hackensack
Township, taken August 1850, dwelling 414, family 441 (family of
Jacob Van Valen); Kelly, Arthur C. M., Baptism Record of the
Clarkstown Reformed Church, West Nyack, Rockland County, NY

Reformed Dutch Church...Records of Old South Church...to 1912,
transcribed Aug 1970; printed [c. 1998?] by Bergen Historic Books
I don't know parents of the above Jacob Van Valen and Feytje/Sophia
Vanderlinde, but here's some possibilities:
There was a Jacob Verveelen, son of Gideon Verveelen & Maria Banta,
was b. 27 Dec 1774; bp. 22 Jan 1775 Tappan Ref Ch(wit: Jacob
Westervelt, Jannetye his wife)
Fytje Van Delinde, dau. of John Van Delinde & (poss?) Effie
Westervelt, was bp. 23 June 1782 Schraalenburgh Ref Ch (wit: Jan
Westervelt and wife) (no mother's name in bp. record)
I'd love to know what you think of these possibilities. Does
anything mesh with the information you have?
Pat
