Dear Cynthia,
I hope you can help me; I am preparing a Webber article, the main subject is the European ancestry, but the American part will be discussed as well.
>From the NY baptism and marriage records (I consulted the printed books) I read:
Margrieta de Riemer, bap.2 Apr 1704, daughter of Isaac de Riemer and Aeltje Wessels [I assume you are interested].
She married (1): Jan Sjoert [also some different spellings of his name} and I found 3 children for rhis couple:
1. Isaac, bap. 18 Mar 1730.
2. Alida, bap. 24 Jan 1734.
3. John Henry, bap. 4 May 1737
Margrieta married (2) 18 June (intention 16 June) 1739, Jacob Webber (bap. 8 Dec 1700, son of Wolfert Webber and Grietje Stille). From this second marriage I found 4 children:
1. Olivardus, bap. 27 Apr 1740.
2. Alida, bap. 4 Oct 1741.
3. Elisabeth, bap. 17 Oct 1742.
4. Petrus, bap. 6 Feb 1745.
Wolfert Webber made a will (Abstracts NY wills, vol.11, pp.192-193) dated 8 Jul 1774 and in it he mentions:
-------Henry and Isaac, children of his wife by her former husband John Shourt. No problem here, obviously Alida died (I think she died prior to 4 Oct 1741 when Alida Webber was baptised; but of course I have no proof for that) and John Henry is called: Henry.
-------Wolfert also mentions his 4 children: Oliver, Peter, John and Elisabeth. Now here is my 'problem': did I miss the baptism of John and was Alida Webber dead by 1774, or is there an error in the abstract of the will?
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Frans Gouverneur
