Hello listers, friends and colleagues,

To reintroduce myself, I am Bernie Schaaf, the webmaster, compiler, author of the New Netherland and Beyond Website.
Being off list for quite some time, and reviewing the list archives from past months, I see there have been questions/comments in regard to citations; and an uncertainty of publication dates.

To clear up the matter on the topic of
Church Burials in Albany and Vicinity,
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycoloni/chbur.html
which includes a listing of
1.Dutch Reformed Church Burials 1722-1757, Men, Women and Children
and
2.Albany Newspapers, list of deaths published 1784-1798,

I would like to add the following:

1. Dutch Reformed Church Burials, from the works by Joel Munsell, entitled "Annals of Albany", a 10 volume set. This specific set of records can be found in Vol. III, pg. 235-248, (c) 1850. As this set of records is now in the Public Domain, the compilation and re-indexing as they appear at the website carries a copyright of 1999, the original date of publication, with updates to the web page design or context, in 2000, 2001, as noted.

2. Albany Newspapers......
Joel Munsell published fragments from Albany Newspapers of persons deceased, and appear throughout the 10 volumes of the "Annals of Albany". These 10 volumes were published over a period of time, and noted, i.e., (c) 1852-1870. Further research for a specific individual appearing in Albany newspapers may prove to be beneficial.

In short, because names and b/m/d dates are not copyrighted, and the above mentioned webpages are an original compilation by myself, using a Public Domain source, it was not necessary to footnote each line of entry, giving exact page number, etc. from the original works used, i.e., Joel Munsell, Annals of Albany, pg., etc.
If one chooses to cite materials published,
the correct citation should be to the website, it's author, etc... as it was determined in subsequent listings at the DC list. Thanks to all of you who supported the details. [Of course if one would want to site Joel Munsell's works, one would have to find the specific page(s), in a certain volume.]
----
As a courtesy to researches, sources used at " New Netherland and Beyond" are cited with as much information possible, in order for each researcher to verify the published records for their own use. Some pages that were posted in 1999 and 2000 may be void of some detail, preventing one to quote the pages correctly. If you have any questions on citations or publication dates, you can email me directly. I will be reviewing the pages and completing citations where necessary.
---
On the subject of authorship of the website, please note that the webmaster is also the author and compiler. Although I have several persons who work with/for me, the materials published (unless otherwise noted) belong to author/webmaster Bernie Schaaf.
Like many of you, I have endeavored in the field of genealogy-history for over 25 years and collected much information to share specifically to NY- New Netherland (NY, NJ, DE...) research.
Although my time used in web publishing is quite extensive, it does not allow me enough time to interact on list; you can always send emails direct with any questions or comments, and I will eventually respond to them.
I would like to thank the listers who have extended their thanks and compliments, it is very encouraging.

Sincerely,
Bernie Schaaf
Webmaster
