Hi Bruce -----
The History of Rockland County New York by Rev.David Cole ,D.D. 1884
says The Reformed Church of Kakiat , or West New Hempstead (" Brick
Church"),
organized December 4 th 1774 ------ in the summer of 1824 , Dominie
James D
Demarest and 68 of the members seceded from the brich church and formed
the True Reformed Church of Monsey .. If the records transcribed
by Carol
Miles start about 1774 , then it or they are the records of the "
Brick Church "
" True " may have been added to its name after 1884 ?????
Dominie Van der Linde was the first preacher ----- check the LDS
film and
if the first baptisms are by Van der Linde , then they are from the
above
mentioned " Brich Church " ----
Lets hear from some one in Rockland Co. ?????
regards ------ Leslie

>Can anyone provide me with information about a "True Reformed Dutch Church of West New Hempstead"? So far the only "True Ref. D. Chs." of which others are aware are the churches at Monsey and Nanuet. Yet I have a reference to "Baptisms at the True Reformed Dutch Church of West New Hempstead, Rockland Co., NY, transcribed 1996 by Carol Miles from the microfilm of the church book (LDS FHC Film # 1016566)".
