Dear Cynthia and Margot and Kelsey and Pam, etc. David M. Riker has an
entry for Jan Jochemszen KALDER. He says, "Jan Kalder may be a son or
brother of Jochem Caljer/Calyer." Riker knows only that Jan Jochemszen
Kalder's wife was named Marritie and that she did indeed marry Gysbert
Corneliszen Bogart of Catskill in 1663. Riker gives Jan Kalder and his
wife Marritie _______ 2 children: 1) Helmer (who inherited his
step-father's property) and 2) Dorothea who married Jan Cornelis
Vanderhoof.
Margot's source was Wilson V. Ledley who claimed that *his* sources
Provost and Seversmith both claimed the parentage of Dorothea Jans to be
*tentative*.
Back to Margot who set us all off through this challenging labyrinth.
Where does your information
"Jan Jochemse was born 18 May 1635 in Sixbierum, Friesland..." come from?
What evidence do you have that such a Jan is the same individual who came
to New Netherland? This appears to be the only piece of "new"
information.
Dorothy
