Here is a complete E-Book: Scharf's History of Delaware, 1609-1888.

This is a nice narrative history of Delaware. See link below. This page
contains reference to New Amstel and the Jacob Alrichs who is lately
under discussion. Scharf's text here might shed some light upon the
reason for the conflict with De Hinijossa.

Scharf, Thomas J., History of Delaware, 1609-1888. Volume Two- pp.
854-880. Here on this page is _a_ story of the beginnings in DE, NJ, PA,
etc. Can't vouch for Scharf's veracity, but his work is laid out nicely.

For some years, New Amstel was a colony of the city of Amsterdam alone.

I have read Scharf's whole work (online). Throughout the work, there are
lots of New-Netherlander names that many of us will recognize. This site
has a nice presentation; use the green bottons at the top (or bottom)
for navigating in this (large) work. I have been interested in Scharf's
History because my mother's family had a lot of ancestors from DE & MD
as well as in NJ.

Best to all & stay warm :-)
