Janet,

According to a local historian in the town where I live, shortly after
the Civil War ended a regional civil war almost erupted over the
distance between the two major towns in the county. The largest town
conducted the majority of business, and this is where the millionaires
lived. However it was in the smaller town that court business was
conducted. The contensious issue wasn't where the courthouse was
located it was the distamce. The eighteen miles between towns was
nearly an 8 hour drive by hourse in the 1800's. The County solved the
solution by erectimg a second courthouse. Today the Judges who sit in
the CW courthouse dispose of Family and Civil cases such as divorce and
DUI, whilst Judges in the new courthouse handle major crime cases

Pj
Yes, at one time Jasper County had more millionaires living here than
anywhere in the United States - discounting Monarchies and Theocracies.
of course.
