Paul:
Garret-1 Dircksen Croesen "was born in Winschoten, a village in the Province
of Gronigen, the Netherlands around 1639-40... There is no information on
Garret's life in the Netherlands, who his family was, and whether any
relatives traveled with him to America... Garret stated in his transfer for
membership into the Reformed Dutch Church at Breucklen in 1661 that he was
from Winschoten." (Warren D. Cruise, "The Croesen Families of America;
Volume I: Croesen Families in the 1600s [Baltimore, MD: Gateway Press, Inc.,
1998], p. 40)
I found no obvious match in the index for Sushanna Kreson (b. 1833). If she
was a descendant of Garret-1, I highly recommend purchasing a copy of this
well-written and well-documented genealogy. Also, you may want to consider
subscribing to to network with others researching
your branch of the family.
Your Croesen Cousin,
Perry

Have a note in our family history from an Aunt, no
longer with us, about Sushanna Kreson (b. 1833). Says
she is descended from Garrett Dirckson Kreson who
emigrated to New Amstersdam in 1660. Garrett was from
Winachotan in Gromken, Holland. Don't know where this
information came from, and the names don't match any
places that I am familiar with. Any clues are greatly
appreciated. (Only Kreson I've found was from
Hungry!)Thanks, Paul
