A good summary of many of the facts that we now know is presented by Harry
Macy in "375th Anniversay of the Eendracht and Nieuw Nederland" in the Winter
1999
(Vol 10, no. 1) issue of the NYG&B Newsletter, pp 3-4. There have been
several important finds since the 19th C. authors wrote their books with the
erroneous 1623 date.
Another summary is "New Netherland and Its Earliest Families" by George Olin
Zabriskie in Dutch Settlers Society of Albany Yearbook, vol. 43 (1970-72), pp
6-8.
He points out that operations of the DWIC "did not begin until final
agreements were approved by the States General on 21 June 1623."
Maybe you can find the orginal articles. I have the Macy one --- somewhere --
on the other computer I guess.
