Subject: [DUTCH-COLONIES] Van Horne yDNA Project
Date: Sun, 10 Dec 2006 21:24:39 -0800

Again this holiday season, Family Tree DNA has made available, to the
Van Horne yDNA Project, four gift certificates for yDNA [men] testing,
and two gift certificates for mtDNA [women] testing

The gift certificates will be made available on a first come first serve
basis to anyone with the Van Horn / Van Horne surname. They may be
applied to the cost of testing, for anyone, who registers, to be tested,
for the first time, through 31 December 2006

The project currently has six participants, one a descendant of
Christian Barentsen, four descendants of Matthys Cornelissen and one
whose ancestor is not yet determined.

It is the project objective to identify the genetic lines of the three
immigrants to New Netherlands whose descendants took the Van Horn / Van
Horne surname, Jan Cornelissen, Christian Barentsen and Matthys
Cornelissen. According to George Olin Zabriskie’s articles in TAG, Jan
Cornelissen had two sons, Cornelius Jansen and Joris Jansen, and
Christian Barentsen had three sons, Barent Christiansen, Cornelis
Christiansen and Johannes Christansen. You MUST be a male in direct line
of male descent from your Van Horn / Van Horne ancestor. We would very
much like to have descendants of these five men participate in the
project, however, all men with this surname are welcome to participate.

The two gift certificates for mtDNA testing are available to any woman
whose maiden name is Van Horn / Van Horne.

If you are interested, please write to me personally at .
In the interest of not causing a ruckus on a mail list or message board,
I WILL NOT respond to messages posted there.

Happy Holidays,

Marleen Van Horne
Van Horne yDNA Project Manager
