Goldie Lucretia Rice Salyers, 80, of Ashland went home to be with Lord, on Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Lawrence County, Ky., a daughter of the late Edgar Hagar and Dosha McDowell Rice.
Mrs. Salyers was retired from Ashland Crafts and was a member of the Ironville Enterprise Baptist Church for 52 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Salyers; two sons, Roger Dale Salyers and Stephen Michael Salyers; one daughter, Freda Salyers; four brothers, Truman Rice, Cecil Rice, Gordan Rice and Tommy Rice; two sisters, Joyce Rice Stephens and Pauline Rice Salyers.
Survivors include one son, Donavin Robert Salyers and his wife, Sonja, of Catlettsburg, Ky.; two daughters, Betty Sue Salyers Blackburn and her husband, Russell, of South Shore, Ky., and Sandra Ruth Salyers of Ashland; three brothers, Edgar Rice Jr. and Conard Rice of Columbus, Ohio, Donald Rice of Wurtland, Ky.; one sister, Laverne Rice Lawson of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Amelia Ward, Tony Ward, Jeremy Johnson, Phillip Blackburn, Teri Blackburn Smith, Cheryl Blackburn Stone, Bradford Salyers and Misty Salyers Hewlett; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, 2005, at Miller Funeral Home by Jack Salyers and Larry Lavender officiating. Burial will follow at the Pennsylvania Furnace Cemetery Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
