From Ireland Samuel came to Chester County, PA in 1701 and later moved
to Virginia

Will of Samuel Buchanan - Washington County, VA Will Book 1, page 83.

In the name of God Amen. I being weak in body but perfect in memory I
do bequeath to my Wife Martha one Negro Wench named Alice. I do
bequeath to my son John one Negro boy named will, AS ALSO THE Warrant
for land from Brobson to my son John. And to collect my debts here on
Holson, to pay the said Warrant and clear off all debts. I bequeath to
my sons John and Samuel the Bonds due from John Huston the date 75 &
76. half to each equally divided and to my Wife the 78 Bond. And to my
sons Andrew and Robert the Bond dated 79 equally divided. The Waggon
equally divided between my Sons Robert, Samuel, & John also my stock
of cows & horses to be equally divided between my Wife and son John,
also my Houshold fwurniture I leave to my Wife. I also appoint Samuel
Edmondson and Thomas Wilson to be the Executors of this my last Will &
Testament. As Witness my hand this Eleventh Day of October in the Year
1774.
