Hi

I can confirm that they are all very good sites to try.

Can I just add one more www.1837online.com which is a commercial site (you
have to pay - but it is very good value) that gives you access to the
Birth/Marriage/ Death registers from September 1837 to December 2001. It
provides a facility to search on the first three characters of the surname
i.e. EDWards. You can print the relevant page or you can copy the page to
your hard drive. The second option is much better because you can retain a
permanent copy (which you can subsequently print out).

I use it for completing my list of Birth/Marriage/Death register entries for
the name Kemball (and its variances Kemble, Kembell, Kimball, Kimble and
Kimbell) as part of my one-name study.

With KEMball you usually only get one or two entries with a page, whereas
with EDWards you will get several pages for each enquiry. I share my
result with another one-name study person whose surname is close to mine.
Can I suggest that the EDW-UK list could take the opportunity to gradually
share their research results with each other. If anyone is interested I can
attach a copy of one page of Edwards, or I could attach a copy to the EDW-UK
list if that is ok. However you will need a copy of a DjVu viewer to read
the file. The DjVu viewer can be downloaded "free" from the
www.1837online.com site.

I have no financial interest in the 1837 site, I am just a very very
satisfied customer. The cost ranges from 10p a page to 4p a page depending
on who much you spend up front. At present you get 20% extra for your
money.

Regards

Cliff Kemball
