Hi Eric
I have managed to Trace Henry & Family on the 1881, 1891 & 1901 censuses; my problem is although they give me an approximate year of birth and place for Henry I cannot find his birth.
I have searched the GRO indexes and enlisted the help of a professional genealogist from Staffordshire, she searched some parish records for Stoke on Trent and the trade directories for his father George as well as the 1871 census but couldn't find a definite match.
The next step seems to be to search the 1861 census returns for Stoke on Trent to see if I can find him.
It is very frustrating as I've now found his marriage, the birth and marriages for his children, when and where he died as well as the cemetery in Portsmouth where he is buried.
Although I have all this information all I know is he was born approx. 1858 in Stoke on Trent and that his father was George Edwards who worked as a baker.
I don't know what to do next apart from searching the 1861 census?
Cheers
Shane
Oh I make a typing mistake in my earlier message, Henry is my great x 2 grandfather not great x 3!
