I've been away from the list for awhile, but I'm hoping everyone on the list
is still as helpful and friendly as before.

I've been working on the LORD branch of my family, and I've run into a
confusing situation. I'm hoping someone else is researching the LORD family
also. There were some details about them in the Edwards County History,
volumes I and II, so someone must have knowledge of them.

Anyway, here's the story:

Sarah Elizabeth LORD, born 1852, (known as Elizabeth) married Charles WOODS,
born 1852. (Son of William, born in 1800, grandson of John, immigrant from
England)

Eliza LORD, born 1851, married Henry WOODS, twin brother of Charles.

I've been trying to figure out the relationship between Sarah "Elizabeth" and
Eliza. They obviously were close. ON the 1880 census, the two families were
living in the same house. On the 1900 census, they were living next door to
each other.( both Elizabeth and Eliza reported their birthplace as OH on the
1900 census)

The Edwards Co. Books had conflicting information about their parentage. One
article reported that "Elizabeth"'s parents were Albert and Mary LORD.
Another article indicated that Eliza's parents were Abner Kern LORD and
Susannah MC MULLENS. There were further confusions in the articles regarding
exactly who the parents of "Elizabeth" and Eliza LORD were.

On the 1860 census in Scioto Co., Ohio , there was an A.K. LORD and his wife
Susannah. Among their children were an Eliza and a Sarah E. Lord. The age of
Sarah E. matched Sarah "Elizabeth" LORD WOODS, but there was obviously a
mistake in the age of Eliza. Her age was reported as 11, when I think it
should have been 9. (She didn't appear on the 1850 census and if she were
really 11, she would have appeared as a 1 year old.) This, and other things,
leads me to believe that Eliza and Sarah Elizabeth were both the children of
Abner Kern LORD.

OK - here's where it gets even more confusing. When I searched for the
marriage of Abner Kern LORD and Susannah MC MULLENS, I found that there was a
marriage in 1845 in Scioto Co., OH between Susannah MC MULLENS and Alexander
LORD. ( I couldn't find any marriage between an Albert and Mary LORD.)

By now I've probably totally confused nearly everyone with this story. I'm
hoping that someone can help me with this puzzle. Who was Susannah's husband?
Was it Abner? Albert? Alexander???? (By the way, Susannah must have been
married before her marriage to LORD to MC MULLENS. She had a son and a
daughter by this first marriage.) Who were Eliza's father? Who were Sarah
Elizabeth's parents?

I'm hoping someone can either help me with this problem or knows another
person with LORD connections. Thanks.
