Anne, I don't know how they came to Alabama either, except they went thru
Georgia first. Nathaniel Edwards was in Chambers Co, Al on the 1880 census,
with Edward living there with him at age 72. Chambers Co is on the Georgia
line as are several other counties. If you look at a Georgia or Alabama
map you'll see what I mean. Georgia had some land lotteries where they
gave people property and you might find your family there. You could look
for his name on the Alabama list at this address to see if they received
land in Alabama: www.glorecords.blm.gov. They tended to move around a lot
too, so they might be located in other Ala counties, too.

With the dates of 1806 & 1808 Thomas & Benjamin could have been brothers.
