The two possibly related Edwards families I find are both in NE NJ, one settling just west of Newark and the other soemwhat to the north, in Bergen County. IT is unlikely that someone in Lumberton, which was in the old West Jersey proprietorship, would be connected unless some other evidence turns up.

There were some migrations to Louisiana from NJ. I think they were in the 1830s (before the Civil War in any case).
