I have an EGAN family in County Leitrim - working from memory, they are JAMES
ANDREW EGAN born 1790-1810, his wife CATHERINE MAGOWAN or McGOWAN, their son
PATRICK EGAN born 1828 or 1829 - he was my emigrant ancestor - in Lowell,
Massachusetts, on 25 Nov 1855, Patrick married ELLEN McCARTHY of Dingle or
Kenmare, County Kerry.

Sources: family records and research by tbe County Leitrim Genealogical
Center.

There is a STEPHEN EGAN living in County Leitrim right now, near Ballinamore
- and I think I recall that there was an earlier Stephen as well.

Since County Leitrim adjoins Sligo and thus is not so far from County Mayo .
. . I continue to wonder if the families in those counties come from the
same stock.

I look forward to any comment or information about the above. Thanks!
